Happy first few days of fall! Is it really September already? Well the leaves are starting to turn a wee bit of color and the air is a bit crisp, so it must be true! I'm glad you are joining me for my Modern Colorful Fall Home Tour! I'm excited to be showcasing my home for fall along with several of my talented and inspiring friends! If you have joined me on my previous home tours (linked here), you know I always like to start with my entryway, and fall is no exception. I kept things fairly simple with a fall arrangement and a white faux pumpkin. It is the perfect fall touch to welcome guests inside of my home.
This year, I decided to go a different direction with my living room. I have always love the layered rug look, but have been very nervous to try it in my home! I decided to bite the bullet and add a vintage black/brown rug on top of my neutral white and black rug - and I love the look! Not to mention, it is so cozy and soft on my feet!
If you have following and reading my blog for a while, then you know how much I love to mix rich berry tones with muted green and pink. I went with a similar color palette this year. I added the same plum pillows with neutral grey and white and opted for a simple bowl of acorns and pinecones.
This year I combined plum eucalyptus to several feathery light pink stems, allium flowers and taupe colored peonies. You will notice that my fall colors this year are quite rich. The trick to varying the look of each arrangements on my shelves is to mix in different colors, but use one or two consistent stems.
In the past I have decorated my home with browns and neutrals but this is the first time I have combined plums, pinks and brown tones. I have to say, I'm really loving the look.
On my shelves, I added a few touches of brown including woven pumpkins and a braided basket with florals.
Let's take one look back at my great room before we head to the dining room.
This year, for my dining room, I opted to shop my home. I didn't feel like adding more to my floral collection, so I simply used things that I already had at home. It felt nice to be able to shop my home, save some dollars, and create something spectacular!
I found a plum dutch over in my kitchen, added a mercury glass candle, surrounded it with pumpkins and pine cones and added some more floral around it. I combined some additional candles and placed it on a grazing board for some height. And voila - this centerpiece was created.
