Hello friends and welcome to the first part of my holiday home tour! This year, I am partaking in the Blogger's Best - Holiday Home Tour with some very talented bloggers. We all have unique styles of decorating - so there is something for everyone during this week long blog hop! Be sure to check out everyone on the tour at the very end of this post.
If you are joining me from Kristin's home from White Arrows Home, I'm absolutely thrilled to have you stop by! If you have been following along for a while and you are coming back for more - I appreciate you being here as well! This year, I've come up with some new themes and color schemes - so without further ado, grab a cup of hot cocoa, tea or coffee and let's jump right into it!
I cannot believe that I actually decorated my front porch in time! Mr front porch has often been the last space I decorate for the holidays, and so I never have it ready in time for the holiday home tour.
This year, I opted for line my front porch with a few whimsical Christmas trees. I absolutely love the straight pine branches and I think the twinkle lights are such an adorable touch. The two trees on the right are evergreen whereas the one on the left is flocked. Mixing and matching trees always creates so much visual interest. Since my porch is fairly simple this year, I opted for an oversized wreath to create a statement. For a festive touch, I added some red ribbon to all the trees and the wreath.
If you have joined my for my holiday home tours before, you know my love for twinkle lights and trees runs deeps. A few years ago, I added these beautiful gold twinkle trees to my collection and I have been using them year after year. The branches create this burst of beautiful warm glow and I love scattering them throughout my home. I have used them in my study and dining room in previous years. This year, I decided to separate them. I added the 3 foot tree to my entryway table and you will see the taller trees make an appearance later on in the tour.
This year, I decided to dress this tree up by placing it in a basket and filling it with ornaments. Nothing like simple easy decor for the holidays!
Next up on the tour is really the star of the show ... my great room Christmas tree!
This year, I decided to try an entirely different color scheme - JEWEL TONES! In past years, I have stuck to either classic Christmas with reds, silver and golds or I have opted for a fluffy white neutral tree. This year I was in the mood to try something different. I was craving cheery color and I was inspired by an old catalogue where I came across an add for shiny bright Christmas ornaments. I guess you could say this tree is a modern take on Christmas and these colors really create a feeling of nostalgia.
I love trees that are fully decorated and this tree is no exception. It is brimming with three different types or ribbon, colorful ornaments in shades of green, navy blue, plum and raspberry and a few teal colored birds. I was worried when styling this tree that the color would be over powering, but it turned out to be well balanced, since the ribbon was very subtle while the ornaments provided the perfect pop of color. What do you think? Do you love it as much as I do?
My favorite way to finish a tree is to wrap a cozy throw or knit blanket around the tree stand, add perfectly wrapped presents and a bowl or box full of ornaments below the tree. Take a look at these gorgeous beauties!
Given how full the tree is, I decided on a simple tree topper. I added a few champagne berry picks to match the ribbon on the tree. You can also see a few champagne ornaments in various sized scattered throughout the tree.
This tree is filled with various jewel tone shades, and to keep things consistent, I added similar shades to my mantel decor, stockings and ottoman.
For this year's mantel, I added some faux cedar garland, eucalyptus and some silver dollar lunaria branches for a pop of white. I then wove in some pink and navy ribbon to match the colors of the tree. To finish off the look, I added battery operated twinkle lights (of course!).
A few years ago, I created this DIY wreath using battery operated lights and a round wreath form. I decided to bring it back this year and I just love how it looks!
I have a total confession to make ... I cannot tie a bow! I have followed so many tutorials and I just cannot get it right! This year, I decided to not ruin this stunning velvet plum bow by attempting to make bows, and just looped the ribbon around the lit wreath and these stockings. I still love how the ribbon looks!
To finish off the great room, I created a little Christmas scene using miniature holiday homes, bottle brush trees and my favorite pine candle. I love how the candle and the holiday homes add warmth to the room and the bottle brush trees are the perfect whimsical touch!
Last but not least, my other twinkle trees are tucked in behind my large sectional and add the perfect glow. I usually have a large vase in that corner, but this year swapped it out for two trees. I might have to add trees to this corner every year!
Here are a few more glimpses of this year's great room holiday magic.
