If you know me, you know that the way to my decorating heart is florals! No matter the time of year, I'm in the mood for any style bouquet and I love sprinkling fresh and faux flowers throughout my home. So it's no shocker that my favorite part of decorating for the Valentine's Day blog hop this year was creating this DIY floral chandelier. If you missed the blog hop, you can find it linked here. This chandelier is all about bang for your buck! It has great impact, it is easy to put together and is super afforadable. This chandelier is also really versatile! You can use fresh or faux flowers and it can remain a decor piece in any part of your home (I'm keeping this up, even after the party is over!).
Here's what you will need:
1) an assortment of faux or fresh greens
2) an assortment of faux or fresh flowers if you want to add a pop of color
3) rubber bands or floral wire
4) round metal wreath frame
5) spool of fishing line wire or invisible thread
6) ceiling hook
Let's get started!
1) Tie your invisible thread or fishing line on four corners of your metal frame. You want to make sure these are equidistant so that they can support the chandelier when you hang it up.
2) Lay out your greens over the the wreath frame. Play around with placement to maximize on the texture and coverage over the metal frame. Don't be afraid to pull apart or spread out some of the branches to give your chandelier a three dimensional effect.
3) Cut your floral wire or rubber bands and tie the individual stems to the metal frame. I hate using floral wire, so I opted to cut pieces of rubber bands and used those to secure the stems. Regardless of what you use, you want to make sure you secure these firmly on your frame.
Style tip: think about the direction of your stems. I personally think these chandeliers look best if the greenery or florals are running in one direction. Play around with direction and choose what you think looks best.
4) If you choose to add florals to your chandelier, you can either secure these stems as you did your greenery in step 3, or you can simply insert the stems in between your greens. If you know you are going to change out your flowers, then inserting them may be a better option than tying them down.
5) Once you are happy with how your chandelier looks, pull it up using the invisible string and tie a knot close to the floral part of your chandelier. Tightly gather the strings beyond this knot to create a single "line" and tie a knot at the very top of the "line". This is the knot that you will use to hang your chandelier.
6) Hang your chandelier on the ceiling hook using the top knot you created in step 5.
7) Give it a final look. If the metal wreath ring is visible, fluff your greenery branches to hide it.
